J. Marvin Smith III, M.D., FACS, FACC

Dr. Smith is a native of San Antonio and a 5th generation Texan. He is a 1972 graduate of the Tulane University School of Medicine. His postgraduate training in surgery included one year at the University Of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas and four years at the Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed a two year residency in Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgery under the directorship of Dr. Denton A. Cooley at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston. Karen Summy, APRN-BC

After graduating from high school in Rush City, Minnesota, Karen entered the United States Army Reserves and Completed Boot Camp at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and her Advanced Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas as an Army Medic. Karen subsequently obtained her 91Charlie, (LVN) while serving in the Army.
